The Southern Kitchen has been busy!

Updated: Sep 16, 2021

Dear Tooting & Balham Foodies, Gosh! What a busy couple of weeks! Read on to find out what we've been up to, and what we've got planned this weekend!

Our Double Cheeseburger with bacon

September has got off to a bang and has been super busy cooking BBQ and burgers, which is absolutely fantastic, and exactly what we want to be doing! Long may it continue. And it’s carrying on this weekend with a burger Friday and our 2nd pop up.

We experimented with double cooked chips - not as good as the triple cooked ones!

We’ve been busy with not only our burger Friday takeaway service, but also catering for private parties and our first pop-up which have all gone great guns where we took our southern low and slow BBQ on the road! Last weekend saw us do our largest event to date, where we smoked our North Carolina style BBQ pulled pork burgers for 80 hungry party goer’s at a special birthday party. It was great fun to do, and thankfully went according to plan. The pork went down a treat, with many coming back for seconds, a few for thirds, and I suspect one or two might have even had fourths!! The feedback on the day and afterwards was fabulous. Thank you!! 😊 We’ve also attended our first pop up, where the good folks at The Lamb in Surbiton let us loose in their cabin kitchen to help feed all the revelers that were there for The Lockdown Legacy Takeover. The wings flew out the door and the sloppy joe’s were a surprise hit! All with lots and lots of BBQ pulled pork burgers! It was a great success and the event helped to raise £2,100 for charity.

The menu for our first ever pop up!

We have been asked back to do another pop-up at the Lamb in support of the Surbiton Food Festival, and the Surbiton Village fete this Sunday, 19th September. We will be in The Lamb Sunday afternoon till late, and once the main event is over the pub will be hosting live music to help everyone make the most of a great community day out. Make a day of it, by going for a walk along one of the most beautiful stretches of the River Thames from Kingston, popping across to the fete in St Andrews Square, before meandering around the corner to the pub, where we will be dishing up our famous burgers, triple cooked-chips and wings!

Come and see us at The Lamb after visiting Surbiton Village Fete

Phew!! All this is making me want to go and have a lie down!

Happy eatin’ y’all and hope to cook for you soon,

Rich
